Anacortes History

  1. Ballard Locks open (1916)

August 3, 2020, All Day @ Ballard Locks

Our very own snagboat Skagit was the first boat to come through the locks during the Grand Opening of the Ballard Locks on August 3, 1916. The locks are still running today and now serve both their original purpose and are a popular tourist attraction. The Skagit snagboat has since been broken down with pieces of it being rebuilt into the W.T. Preston.
