The Washington State Department of Agriculture has come up with a helpful webpage after numerous people have reported killing the invasive Asian giant hornet only to find out it was a native insect they terminated. Confirmed sightings of the Asian giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia) as recently as June 6 in Whatcom County have raised more concerns about its spread in northwestern Washington.
