Washington Park Boat Launch Update 7/19/19

BoatLaunch2

Washington Park Boat Launch Update…since February we have been working hard to repair and replace this important link to recreational boating in the San Juan Islands. We are still working our way through a multi-level permitting process that includes Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies. We are committed to not only replacing our damaged pilings and floats, but doing this work with all necessary approvals. We understand the frustrations experienced and expressed by the boaters who count on us, but please know we are working hard every day to bring this project to fruition. Here are some of the highlights of this work:

-State Senator Liz Lovelett was able to secure $200,000 in Olympia for this project. The money is ready as soon as we are.

-Transpac Marinas, Inc. has been voluntarily providing us with engineered drawings for our permitting process.

-City Staff, especially Gunnar Christiansen in Engineering, have also been very supportive throughout this repair and replacement project.

.

We ask for your continued patience and support as we get closer to having permits in hand.

Please remember the launch is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While the tidal launch window is reduced, there are still plenty of good tides to get your boat in and out of the water.
