Letter to Legislators from Skagit County Mayors

Skagit County Mayor Letter to Legislators

Mayors from Anacortes, Burlington, Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley wrote to Washington State Legislators in advance of the upcoming legislative session to express their continuing concerns over crime in Skagit County cities.

Citizens across the state have been voicing their concerns with laws regarding vehicle pursuits by police, the impact of the Blake decision, new laws surrounding juvenile questioning and rising crime in general. Skagit County has seen the detrimental effects of increasing crime, drug abuse and an embolden criminal element that is making our communities less safe.

Mayors Miller (Anacortes), Sexton (Burlington), Boudreau (Mount Vernon), and Johnson (Sedro-Woolley) encouraged our legislators to take serious thoughtful action at the State level in support of public safety for the over 75,000 citizens they collectively represent.
