Emergency Response

Emergency response is provided by 15 dedicated career Firefighter/Paramedics and 6 Firefighter/EMT and who have had at least one year experience prior to employment with the Department.

Stations & Staff

Twenty-one Firefighters are assigned to 24-hour shifts allowing Station 1 and Station 2 to be staffed with a minimum of two crew members on a 24-hour basis. Station 3 is staffed with two individuals for 12 hours daily - from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The administrative staff consists of a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal, Division Chief (EMS/Training Officer), and a secretary. Firefighter/Paramedics and Firefighter/EMTs are assisted by Volunteer Firefighters. Some Volunteers also have Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

International Association of Fire Fighters

All Firefighter/Paramedics are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1537. Recruitment for vacancies within the department is done through the website Public Safety Testing.


Currently there are no openings at Anacortes Fire Department for Paramedics or EMTs.
