City of Anacortes Fair Housing Policy
It is prohibited to discriminate in the sale, rental, leasing, financing of housing or land to be used for the construction of housing, or in the provision of brokerage services because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or familial status under the Federal Fair Housing Act; and
In Washington State, it is illegal to discriminate in the rental or sale of housing because of race or color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, disability, familial, sexual orientation or gender identity, marital status, honorably discharged veterans or military personnel or individuals with HIV / AIDS and Hepatitis C.
The City of Anacortes will assist all persons who believe they have been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, familial, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, honorably discharged veterans or military personnel or individuals with HIV / AIDS and Hepatitis C to seek relief under federal and state laws by providing such persons with information and forms supplied the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in order that such persons may prepare and file complaints with the Washington State Human Rights Commission or the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Seattle, Regional Office Compliance Division.
