Wastewater Treatment Plant

MISSION STATEMENT:
"Our mission is to maintain and improve the quality of life reflecting community expectations through a focus on public participation and employees-mayor-council teamwork."

The Anacortes Wastewater Treatment Plant, located on T Ave between 4th & 6th Streets, went online on February 17, 1992. Having previously used an outdated overloaded primary treatment process, this new plant made it possible for Anacortes to provide secondary treatment. Secondary treatment is a biological process that treats suspended and dissolved solids. The new process vastly improves the quality of the treated water Anacortes discharges into the Puget Sound. The new treatment plant has an average daily flow of 1.76 million gallons and is permitted for up to 4.5 million gallons per day.
