WASHINGTON PARK NOTIFICATION

Greetings Washington Park Campers. The City of Anacortes greatly appreciates your choice of camping with us. Many of you are aware that we have been upgrading our campground restroom facilities over the last year. Because we have worked hard to keep costs down, and to do the job the right way, the work remains in progress. In preparation for the Victoria Day weekend, we will be able to open the Women’s side. While we have work left to do, that portion of the facility will be functional. The Men’s side will have to remain closed. We do have several Port-O-Pottees on site to help mitigate the situation. We realize this is not ideal, but it is our goal to ultimately provide the best facilities possible. We are hopeful that we will be cutting the ribbon on a completed upgrade for the entire facility in June.
Our other restroom facilities at the entrance of the Loop Road remain open and fully functional.
If you have any questions, please contact our Washington Park staff at 360.661.3463.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Washington Park Scenic 008
SPRING 2017 AT WASHINGTON PARK

Washington Park is open for camping 365 days a year, along with the park’s day use amenities, including hiking, boating, picnicking and watching the day go by from Sunset Beach. The Group Picnic Area is available for reservations, and the Group Camp will be available for use in the early part of May. The restrooms at the beginning of the Loop Road are open all year long, while the restrooms in the campground are typically opened for the Canadian Memorial Day weekend in May. We are currently working on the remodel of these restrooms, so be sure to check our website as to the progress and planned opening of the upgraded facility.

If you would like to make camping reservations at the park, please go to the City’s website at cityofanacortes.org and follow the prompts to Washington Park.

.HELP US SUPPORT the Storvik Park Spray Pad & New Restroom Project!!
 Brown Lantern Spray Park Poster

The spray pad itself is designed to provide a range of fun and interactive spray elements in a form that is unique to our community.  We are calling our design theme "Marine Adventure" and many of our native coastal animals will be featured as spray elements including the playful seal and at-grade water arcs that run through the entire channel.  The park will be a spray to drain system, but all of these spray elements will be low-flow nozzles as well as be computer controlled, to maximize the play and minimize water usage.

The Restroom will have 3 spaces on the men's and the women's side.  The roof will have skylights to take advantage of natural light.  All lights inside will be motion sensor and the toilets and faucets will be low flow.  The restroom will also include hand dryers and will have room to change if needed.

The project budget for both the spray pad and restroom is $682,500. We have received a WWRP (Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program) grant in the amount of $335,000.  This is a matching grant.  The City of Anacortes has a Fundraising Target of $180,000.  The current projected finish date on this project is Summer 2016.

For more information on ways to sponsor/make a donation, check out our "Help Support" Brochure here.

We are in the process of updating our ACFL Comprehensive Plan.  This is a land use document that provides the framework and policy direction to manage the forest lands.  It last updated in 2009.  The Forest Advisory Board will take public comments until April 30th.  A draft of the plan will be ready for public review in the fall, with final adoption by City Council late 2014 or early 2015.  Comments can be directed to:  jonnl@cityofanacortes.org
