The Parks and Recreation Department seeks to preserve and enhance the quality of life that our residents enjoy by providing quality recreational facilities and opportunities regardless of age, race, sex, wealth and ability.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the following:

  • Maintenance of all parks
  • Operation of recreation programs
  • Grand View Cemetery
  • Washington Park
  • Anacortes Community Forest Lands
  • City Facilities Maintenance
  • Grounds at City owned facilities
  • Park planning and development
  • Field scheduling

CALL TO ARTISTS - Intermational Gateway Sculpture

The Anacortes Arts Commission in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Anacortes is issuing a call for qualifications from northwest artists with public art experience for a commission of outdoor art in a visible International Gateway location.  See more

Cap Sante Ivy removal Work Party - April 13

Our next work party on Cap Sante to remove ivy will be from 9am to 11am on Saturday, April 13. Please meet at the picnic shelter at the end of the paved pathway at Rotary Park. See more

 
Forest Lands Work Party - March 23

March 23rd @ 9am: Let’s pull the goat by the ear and give a yank to the non-native and very invasive Goat’s Ear growing near trail 136. This Work Party is to honor Rick Machin who has dedicated many years volunteering in the ACFL and around Skagit County. This work party is great for all ages so bring the whole family. Let’s meet at the Little Cranberry parking lot off of Georgia Ave.  See more

Donate Towards the Roundabout Sculpture!

The City of Anacortes Arts Commission is seeking donations for the artwork "Aerie" to be placed in the Commercial Avenue Roundabout to make this a unique entrance to Anacortes. Submissions were made by various Northwest artists and a jury chose the artwork by Merrilee Moore. Grants have been received to cover some of the costs but additional funding is needed. Heart Lake Milfoil Plan Approved by City Council

The Heart Lake Integrated Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan for Milfoil on the lake was approved at the City Council meeting on June 18. See more

New Geocaching Rules in the Community Forest Lands
