 Background
The City of Anacortes’ transportation system is affected by many factors, including growth, land use changes, regional transportation demands, natural resources issues, and changing demographics. To address these changes, the City is embarking on the development of its 2008 Transportation Plan.

 Project
The project goal is to develop a relevant and feasible transportation plan that embraces the issues and goals the City has identified in its City-wide Comprehensive Plan. This transportation plan will look at all forms of transportation and includes, vehicles and streets, non-motorized transportation, traffic calming and traffic control, and other forms of transportation such as air, marine, and freight. Throughout this plan we will meet with interested parties, regional stakeholders that control the transportation system, and the public so that the plan can balance out the needs of the community and the needs of the transportation system.

It is imperative in order to develop a sound and reasonable plan, to have public input. We will hold many public open houses where you can discuss issues but at all times feel free to contact Eric Shjarback to answer questions or to solicit input on the plan. As information is analyzed and gathered, the City will post on this website links to the information. As such, if you see issues or discrepancies, please let Eric know.
