Traffic Safety Project Pennsylvania Avenue

The City of Anacortes Public Works Department is rapidly moving forward with a traffic safety project in your neighborhood. The project is in partnership with the Anacortes Parks Department and will install pedestrian crosswalks, a new sidewalk, a small center median on Pennsylvania Avenue, bicycle lanes, and some minor drainage improvements on Pennsylvania Avenue between W. 12th Street and Airport Road. See more

 
City of Anacortes Public Works Department Awarded National Reaccreditation

The City of Anacortes Public Works Department passed our reaccreditation through the American Public Works Association (APWA) on October 5, 2009. We passed our APWA reaccreditation with 100% compliance of our roughly 500 practices. During the final review, a three member team from the National Headquarters spent two days touring our facilities and reviewing our practices, policies, and procedures. See more

City of Anacortes Receives AA Bond Rating

The Standard & Poor's (S&P) Ratings Services has assigned the City of Anacortes its 'AA' standard long-term rating; the rating was obtained in preparation of the city’s upcoming $2.05 million limited tax general obligation (GO) refunding bond issue. The outlook is stable. The stable outlook reflects S&P’s expectation that the city will maintain a sound financial position despite the recession. See more

With high temperatures predicted in the 90s this week, City of Anacortes facilities, including parks, libraries and the Senior Center are offering people a way to cool off and stay safe during the heat of the day.  See more

 
STREET CLOSURE ON July 28, 2009

7/27/2009

The City of Anacortes will be closing the Commercial Avenue Roundabout from 6:00 am to approximately 6:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28th to finish up the remaining “in-traffic” work on the roundabout. The detour route will be the same as it was during the 30-day closure.

STREET CLOSURE ON January 14, 2009

The City of Anacortes will be closing the south bound lane of Q Avenue at 17th Street on January 14, 2009 from 8:30 am to approximately 12:30 pm so the WSDOT Signal Department can complete the repair and replacement of the 17th Street signal components. See more

Due to the recent flooding the Skagit River became extremely dirty. To counteract that, the City of Anacortes water treatment plant staff have taken the necessary steps to keep the water safe.  See more
