| Water Treatment Plant Shutdown |

The Anacortes Water Treatment Plant will have a complete plant shutdown on November 14th, 2005 from 7:30am until 4:00pm. The plant shutdown is at the request of Puget Sound Energy so that they can perform reliability upgrades at the electrical substation service the Water Treatment Plant. See more

| City of Anacortes Public Works Department Receives Accredited Agency Status |

The City of Anacortes, Washington became the third agency in Washington State and the 27th agency in North America to be awarded status as an “Accredited Agency” by the American Public Works Association. The APWA Accreditation Council awarded the City Accredited status on October 15th, 2005, which culminated a 3 year journey for the City. See more

| Road Closure - 41st & H |

Due to a required street crossing on 41st Street and H Avenue, the west side of the intersection will be closed to thru traffic on 41st Street and H Avenue to A Avenue. See more

| 41st Street Pedestrian Improvements |
6/17/2005 |
Contracted crews working for the City of Anacortes will be constructing pedestrian improvements along the north side of 41st Street from H Avenue to M Avenue. Work will include:
New curb, gutter and sidewalk along the North side of 41st Street
·Widen asphalt driving lane to allow for a new bicycle lane on the North side of 41st Street
·Sidewalk bulb-outs in front of Mt Erie School with pedestrian lights that will flash when pedestrians cross the street
·Storm drainage system to capture all the rain water on the roadway and channel the water into the City’s storm water system

| Thompson Trail Retrofit Project |
6/9/2005 |
Wilder Construction of Everett will begin the final portion of the Thompson Trail project. Beginning at 12th and Q with the Q Avenue Reconstruction, the trail continued through the industrial zone and extended to the shoreline. The Trestle Retrofit will complete the link to March’s Point Road allowing pedestrians and cyclists a safer commute on North Fidalgo Island. Work will include:
·remove damaged railroad ties
·install deck support structure as needed
·construct 12 ft. wide composite deck and observation areas
·install pedestrian and bicyclist safety guardrail

| Central Business District Sidewalk Program |

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Central Business District Sidewalk program on Monday, March 28, 2005, 12:00 pm in front of the Washington Federal Bank at 1017 Commercial Avenue. This phase makes sidewalk improvements along Commercial Avenue from 10th Street to 11th Street and provides utilities and site preparation for subsequent installation of the Anacortes "Arch".

| PROPOSAL TO INCREASE DISABLED PARKING IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT |

The City of Anacortes’ Barrier Busters Committee and Public Works Department are sponsoring an Open House to discuss a proposal to increase the Disabled Parking in the downtown Central Business District. The Open House will be held on Thursday, February 17th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
