Volunteers

The Volunteer firefighters in this organization are a dedicated group of individuals who support the paid Firefighter/Paramedics in their efforts to provide life and property protection to the citizens of Anacortes and western Skagit County

The Volunteer probationary Firefighter will have a 6-month probationary period and during this period he/she shall attend the Skagit County Fire Training Academy and department orientation. Department training begins after graduation from the county academy. Once graduated, the volunteer will be assigned to a shift officer and a primary mentor. They will be issued a training and orientation manual and pager.

The majority Anacortes Fire Department calls are medical emergencies. Volunteers are encouraged to become an Emergency Medical Technician.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Department has 10 vacancies for Volunteer Firefighters. We accept applications year around and recruit in the spring and fall to meet the Recruit Academy dates. Turn in applications to the Fire Department Administration Office at 1016 13th St, Anacortes. Testing and interviewing will be done upon recruitment.
