Emergency response is provided by 2 EMTs and 18 dedicated career
Firefighter/Paramedics who have had at least one year experience as a
Paramedic prior to employment with the Department. Our newest member has
over one year experience on the department and our most senior member
has been with the department for 22 years. In total, the department
staff has over 280 years of experience. Firefighter/Paramedics are
assigned to 24-hour shifts. And EMTs are assigned 12 hour shifts
allowing our two stations to be staffed with up to five individuals
every day and our third station to be staffed for 12 hours daily. A minimum of four
Firefighter/Paramedics are on duty at any given time during a 24 hour
period. The administrative staff consists of a Fire Chief, EMS
Officer/Fire Marshal, Training Officer and a secretary.
Firefighter/Paramedics and Firefighter/EMTs are assisted by Volunteer Firefighters. Some
Volunteers also have Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
All Firefighter/Paramedics are members of the International
Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1537. Recruitment for
vacancies within the department is done through the website

Currently there are no openings for career Firefighters/Paramedics.
The department is accepting applications for dedicated volunteers.
Volunteers are recruited bi-annually and given fire training at the
Skagit County Recruit Academy (SCRA) under the auspices of the Skagit
County Training Officers Association (SCTOA). For more information on
