Anacortes Fire Department Staff

Emergency response is provided by 15 dedicated career Firefighter/Paramedics who have had at least one year experience as a Paramedic prior to employment with the Department. Our newest member has over one year experience on the department and our most senior member has been with the department for 21 years. In total, the department staff has over 280 years of experience.

Firefighter/Paramedics are assigned to three 24-hour shifts allowing our two stations to be staffed with up to five individuals every day. A minimum of four Firefighter/Paramedics are on duty at any given time during a 24 hour period. The administrative staff consists of a Fire Chief, EMS Officer/Fire Marshal, Operations/Training Officer and a secretary. Firefighter/Paramedics are assisted by Volunteer Firefighters. Some Volunteers also have Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

All Firefighter/Paramedics are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1537. Recruitment for vacancies within the department is done through the website PublicSafetyTesting.com. Currently there are no openings for career Firefighters/Paramedics.

The department is accepting applications for dedicated volunteers. Volunteers are recruited bi-annually and given fire training at the Skagit County Recruit Academy (SCRA) under the auspices of the Skagit County Training Officers Association (SCTOA).
